Sale on the Trail Meeting February 11

The Second Annual Sale on the Trail event, featuring individuals, businesses and organizations hosting the largest and longest sale of antiques, rummage goods and crafts will take place on May 7 and 8 along El Camino Real (Highway 21) from Natchitoches Louisiana, passing through Sabine and San Augustine Counties, and on to Crockett Texas.

The first event was a huge success in Sabine and San Augustine Counties.  The Sabine County planning group will hold its first meeting at 6:00PM on Thursday, February 11 at the J.R. Huffman Public Library in Hemphill.

All interested individuals, civic groups, clubs, hotel/motel owners, landowners or businesses are invited to an open forum and informational meeting concerning the event.

The Sale on the Trail is a joint effort by six Texas and Louisiana counties and parishes stretching from Natchitoches to Crockett on the old San Antonio Road and will include festivals, fairs, sidewalk sales, yard sales, and other activities taking place simultaneously on that weekend.

A large effort is being made to publicize this year's extravaganza and encourage visitors to travel along the nation’s newest Historic Trail and find that special treasure.

All ideas will be welcomed and discussed on how to make Sabine County a major stop along the way and welcome visitors to our area to enjoy all that our communities have to offer.

Please make plans to attend the meeting or call Ellen Melton at (409) 625-4876 with questions.  Information may also be obtained through Sabine County Chamber of Commerce at sabinecounty1@windstream.net or by calling Michelle Brown in the chamber office at (409) 787-2732.
