With the burn ban in effect for both Sabine and San Augustine County’s, fire and county officials are urging people to attend one of the numerous free fireworks displays rather than using their own.
Several July 4th fireworks displays will take place Saturday night.
Holly Park Marina will be hosting their annual fireworks display at their facility on FM 276 on the shores of Patroon Bay. The free show begins at dark. The Broaddus Volunteer Fire Department will host a July 4th fireworks show at the High School baseball field, located on County Road 348. The gates will open at 6:30PM for the free event and the fireworks show will begin at dark. Concessions and patriotic speeches will take place at this free event. Residents around Sunshine Bay on Palo Gaucho Bayou off of FM 3121 will have their annual fireworks display also beginning at dusk. Harbor Light Marina and Mid-Lake Kampground are offering free locations to view the show.
Lowe’s Creek Marina will host their annual Pig Roast and fireworks show on Saturday also. The marina is located at the end of FM 83 east of Hemphill.
The Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department will have a patriotic program and a flag retirement; followed by free hotdogs, ice cream, lemonade, and watermelon along with fire truck rides for the kids. Fireworks start at dusk.
Persons using fireworks are urged to take extra precautions and maintain a 30-minute fire watch after they have been set off.
A rash of wildfires recently has put county and fire officials on high alert.
Persons causing a wildfire may be subject to criminal penalties and liable for costs associated with damaged property and fighting the fire. |
