Sheriff's Department Receives Portable Tele-Conferencing Equipment

The Sabine County Sheriff's Department recently
received portable tele-conferencing equipment that was donated by the
Rural East Texas Health Network (RETHN). Tele-conferencing offers a
powerful tool to improve access to mental health care in rural areas
where there is a shortage of mental health professionals and resources.
Uses of the tele-conferencing equipment include conducting mental health
evaluations, accessing trainings and conferences, and holding meetings
with other stakeholders. The RETHN is a network of local advisory
boards across our region, which meet on a regular basis to discuss
mental health issues. Shown here with the new portable equipment are:

Sheriff Tom Maddox; and Chris Banks (RETHN Technology Support
Coordinator). Submitted photo |
