Auction, Dance Contest at First Annual reCYCleBAL

The first annual re-CYC-le-BAL will be here on September 12 and will feature some interesting themes as the Sabine County Recycling Committee gears up for a “trashy time”.

The event begins at 7:00PM at the VFW Hall on Highway 184 in Hemphill with the music of Charlie Craddock and the Recycle Ramblers, a live auction, dance contest, trashiest dressed and more activities to capture your imagination.

Table centerpieces made from thrown away items, a snack questionably named “dump ground cake” and the always-toxic Six Mile Island punch will be served to those in attendance.

Businesses donating to the event so far are misc., Exclusively M's, Laken's Kloset, The Antique Connection, Johnston Guide Service and Wal-Mart.

Winners of the dance contest will be determined by votes of $1 bills.  Those planning the dance would not say if the strategy to win would be to dance like Fred and Ginger or more like Laurel and Hardy.  However, a splendid time is certain for participants and onlookers alike.

Remembering that this is a reCYCleBAL, trophies awarded for the various contests are certain to be unique.

Setups will be available for the event as everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite beverage.

All proceeds go to the SCRC to continue the recycling efforts in Sabine County.
