The much-anticipated annual San Augustine Chamber of Commerce Civic Auction will take place on September 19 at the San Augustine Expo Building beginning at 6:00PM.
Bigger and better appears to be the theme this year as organizers attempt to outdo themselves in the Chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year.
At right is a deep fryer and cast iron cooker that will be available at the auction.
Everything from an ocean cruise to an oil change, guns to glassware, and a Port-a-Cool to a picnic table will be available for the lucky winners.
Changing up the format to make the evening fun and more enjoyable, the evening will include a live auction by local auctioneer R.D. Griffin, a raffle, bingo auction, “Pick of the Litter” and a game of Hi-Lo.
“The Raffle Table is going to be great and we’re going to have some high priced items,” said Committee Chairman Marshall McMillan.
Slated for the bingo game will be a 5-day Caribbean cruise from the Port of Galveston, an 8,000kV portable generator and a top of the line gas grill.
The live auction will include tickets and parking pass to a Houston Texans football game, guns, a Texas rocker and glider, a Port-a-Cool unit, concrete, climbing stand, canopy, cookers, golf packages and more.
The raffle this year will feature ladies accessories, a stay at The Columns B&B, a fire pit, jewelry box, designer dishes, luggage, chairs and many more items for every taste.
Thousands of dollars of valuable goods will be on display during the evening.
The evening will begin with a delicious BBQ meal, including all the trimmings, by Edwin Henley for $20 per person.
Raffle tickets are available in bundles of 5 tickets for $20, 15 tickets for $50 and 35 tickets for $100 at the Chamber office, Shelby Savings Bank, Bogard’s on Broadway, First Bank & Trust East Texas and State Insurance Agency.
However, anyone who buys their raffle tickets in advance of the auction can receive the 35-ticket bundle for only $75.
Anyone purchasing a 35-ticket bundle will receive a special ticket for the Early Bird Drawing of a stainless steel CharBroil grill.
Several raffle tables will be set up and the winners of the raffle get to choose any item they want from that table until all items are gone.
Bingo will be available for the three very valuable prizes for $100 per card. Those purchasing two or more cards will become eligible for a special prize drawing in addition.
A “Pick of the Litter” game will take place with only 100 tickets being sold at $20 each with the winners allowed to have the “Pick of the Litter” on a special table.
The committee extends a special thanks to donors and sponsors without whom the event would not be possible.
